MyFatherwillhonorthe one who serves me" (John 12:26). A true servant ofChrist is an obedient follower. One who follows the Lord staysclosetoseethecoursesetforhim - not lagging behind orrunning ahead ofhis Master. In doing so, he does not goastray; andwhentheLordbeginsto work, he is available. He is rightthere andbecomesaparticipantinthatwhich the Lord is doing. He is always where his Master is, and his rewards include eternallifethatbeginsnowandcontin- ues into eternity. In addition, Jesus promised that the Father will honor thosewho servebyfollowing. It is interesting that our Conference, which has experienced 50 years of servingtheLord, istheoldestofthecontinuingCongregationalmovements inourcountryatthepresenttime. IntheyearsIhavebeeninvolved, wehave beenchallengedrepeatedlytobe sensitivetothe leadingofourLordandto serve Him in the unique ministries to which we have been called. What a privilegeto follow andservethe Kingofkings andLordoflords. Now, we approach the millennium. While we do not know what the years aheadwillbring, we do needto be preparedto servethe Lord- to be avail- abletoHim. Someare sayingthattherewillbemanywonderful opportuni- ties given to the church to serve with the anticipated problems that could come. Again, we need to take up the challenge to "serve by following", staying close to our Lord so that we don't miss any ofthe action. Let's be servants who follow our Lord faithfully. Clarence J.
