Technical Assistance • Employs a staff of field engineers and technical specialists that conduct P2 site visits at industrial facilities • Helps identify ways to conserve resources, take advantage of less polluting raw materials, improve housekeeping practices, and increase process efficiency • Places college level student interns at industrial facilities, economic development groups, and other institutions to work on P2 projects during the summer • Has realized millions of dollars in cost savings and reduced more than 100,000 pounds in releases to the environment • Works with regulatory programs to integrate P2 into their mainstream functions • Provides training for agency staff to increase P2 awareness •Collaborates on special projects to promote P2 during field inspections and other activities Voluntary Initiatives • Develops programs that recognize and support comprehensive P2 efforts • Encourages facilities to incorporate P2 into day-to-day business functions • Partners with business groups, environmental organizations and technical assistance providers on special initiatives for small business sectors Educational Outreach • Sponsors workshops and seminars that inform businesses and others about the latest P2 approaches and management tools • Publishes brochures, reports, and fact sheets on P2 techniques and resources • Provides speakers at organizational meetings, company functions and conferences • Hosts an internet site at: www.epa.state jl,us/p2 Where To Get More P2 Information Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pollution Prevention 1021 N, Grand Ave. E., #34 RO.
