From the AuthorThe Second Ship is the first novel in my Rho Agenda Trilogy, a coming of age story of an adolescent world in an aging galaxy and of the three young people who become humanity's last-best hope of survival.
The president of the United States announces to the world that Los Alamos National Laboratory's Rho Project has successfully reverse engineered technology from a crashed alien starship, technology that offers such benefits to mankind that he can no longer justify keeping it secret. As the Rho Project prepares to roll out that technology to the world, three Los Alamos High School juniors stumble upon, or are drawn to, a second crashed starship, buried deep in the rough canyon country surrounding Bandolier National Monument. With an errant touch, they are linked to an alien computer, enduring a download that gives them the knowledge that the two starships shot each other down and that the Rho Project alien technology threatens mankind's very existence. Even more frightening, they find themselves altered; changing in ways they can't begin to understand, unsure of what they are becoming.
Now, hunted by ruthless killers from their own government, they must find a way to stop the Rho Project before it forever changes what it means to be human.
I hope you enjoy reading this trilogy as much as I enjoyed writing it. In these days when we send our fine young people off to fight our wars, losing that beautiful innocence in violent, alien environments, I wanted to tell a story of three young people thrust into a different, but similarly life changing situation.
