Otherwise, we and our children will suffer needless starvation, poverty, and other hardships. This book describes an economic improvement that will provide the desired prosperity without the undesired big govern¬ ment. It is a very simple improvement and can be described in only a few words. It is simply this: we must ensure that most of our real wealth is used in the most efficient manner. This efficient use will provide the desired prosperity. The proposal should not be interpreted to mean that we turn over more control to the politicians. On the contrary, the politicians are frequently the least efficient users of real wealth. The Prosperity Plan described herein shows how we can achieve prosperity, efficient use, and free enterprise simultaneously. I stress that the dialogs in the book are my own creations. They do not represent actual conversations. Woomera, South Australia A. A. Van Petten May 12, 1971 IV
