Up tothepresent,11speciesofthealeocharinestaphylinidgenus nett,abothrus BERNHAUER have been known from the world (BERNHAUER & SCHEERPEI_TZ, 1926; CAMERON, 1939,1943,1950;NAKANE,1991;PACE, 1992).Theirknowndistributional rangeisrestrictedtotheOrientalRegionandAustralia. ThroughthecourtesyofMr. ShigehisaHoR1(NatureConservationDepartment,HokkaidoInstituteofEnvironmen- talSciences,Sapporo),Ihadanoppoturnitytoexaminesomespecimensofthegenus obtainedinHokkaido,Japan.TheyarenewtothePalearcticfauna.Astheresultofmy examination, it hasbecomeclear thatthespecies isdifferent fromanyotherspecies describeduntilnowandmustbenewtoscience. Inthispaper, Iwilldescribeitasa newnet;-aboth1-usspeciesandwillalsoreport thefirstrecordofT.Japonlcusfromthe RyukyuIslands. GenusTe‘trabothrusBERNHAUER 「et'abet1/1'usBERNHAUER, l915,Tidschr.Ent.,58:240[typespecies: Tetlabot11''usc/avattlsBERNHAUER, fixedbysubsequentdesignation(BLAcKwELDER,1952,p382)]. - CAMERON,1939,Fn.Brit. Ind., Coleopt.Staphy1.N p457. Antennaeshort, strongly clavate. Labrum transverse, arcuately emarginate in front, theanterior angles rounded. Mandibles lightlycurved, pointedandedentate. Maxillaemoderatelyelongate;galeanearlyparallel-sidedandcloselyprovidedwith finebristlesattheapicalpart;1aciniabroaderandcloselyprovidedwithfinebristleson theinnermargin;maxillarypalpus4-segmente 1stsegmentshort,2ndlightlycurve slightlythickendtowardsapex,3rdaslongas2ndandscarcelybroader than2n 4th subulate,ahalfaslongas3rd.Mentumtransverse,subtrapezoida1,theanteriormargin broadlyemarginate.
