Edward Sylvester Ellis (1840 - 1916) was an American teacher, school administrator, journalist, and the author of hundreds of books and magazine articles under his own name and a number of pseudonyms. Notable fiction stories by Ellis include The Huge Hunter; or, The Steam Man of the Prairies and the Deerfoot novels, which were read widely by boys until the 1950s.
A word to the sensitive: The 19th and early 20th century used language differently than we do, and characters in these stories sometime use terms which might be considered mild racial slurs today, but not at the time the stories were written. If you are upset by terms such as "redskins" for Native Americans, this is not the right ebook for you. However, if you can look beyond such things, you will find this to be an entertaining, enjoyable set of adventure stories. (And you'll learn a lot about tying knots!)
