Nevertheless, with time, a variety of types of studies and data suggested that heterogeneous populations or subpopulations of stem cells exist. In this volume,Ihavepulledtogetheraseriesofprotocolsthataddressdifferentaspectsofstemcell heterogeneity.Iamverygratefultothecontributorsfortheirtimeandgenerosityinputting together theirconceptsandprotocols. Once again, I would like to thank Dr. John Walker, Editor in Chief of the Methods in MolecularBiologyseries, forhissupportandencouragement. IamgratefultoPatrickMarton,SeniorEditoroftheMethodsinMolecularBiologyseries, forhiscontinuoussupportthroughouttheproject. A special“thankyou” goesto DavidCasey,Editor oftheMethodsin MolecularBiology series, forhistirelesseffortsandsupportduringthefinalstagesofthevolumeproduction.
