ThisvolumeofAdvancesinIntelligentandSoftComputingcontainsacceptedpapers
presentedatSOCO2012,heldinthebeautifulandhistoriccityofOstrava(CzechRe-
public),inSeptember2012.
Soft Computing represents a collection or set of computational techniques in ma-
chinelearning,computerscienceandsomeengineeringdisciplines,whichinvestigate,
simulate,andanalyzeverycomplexissuesandphenomena.
After a throughpeer-review process, the SOCO 2012 InternationalProgram Com-
mittee selected 76 papers which are published in these conference proceedings, and
representsan acceptance rate of 38%. In this relevantedition a special emphasiswas
puton the organizationof specialsessions. Three specialsessions were organizedre-
lated to relevant topics as: Soft computing models for Control Theory & Applica-
tions in Electrical Engineering, Soft Computing Models for Biomedical Signals and
DataProcessingandAdvancedSoftComputingMethodsinComputerVisionandData
Processing.
Theselectionofpaperswasextremelyrigorousinordertomaintainthehighquality
oftheconferenceandwewouldliketothankthemembersoftheProgramCommittees
for their hard work in the reviewingprocess. This is a crucial processto the creation
ofahighstandardconferenceandtheSOCOconferencewouldnotexistwithouttheir
