S C TATE OORDINATOR MACK BACKLUND (763) 226-9195 Help [email protected] Wanted As a membership based volunteer organization A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota is always looking for people to sup- port our motorcycling rights and safety mission. Many of our members and potential members have specific skills that help us in key areas. For example, our Newsletter Editor is a professional in the field of graphic arts. The A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota State Treas- urer is a Certified Public Accountant. Our Historian has studied at the Smithsonian Institute. The Chair of our Publications Com- mittee is liberal arts major. The Revisor of our by-laws and the policy and procedures manual is a college professor. Our Assistant Coordinator and our Rally Chair have led troops in battle and make use of those skills while performing A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota duties. And all of our committee chairs are extremely dedicated to A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota. The list goes on and on. Everyone in- volved brings a unique perspective and incredible passion to the task of preserving our riding freedoms. But they can’t do it by themselves. Here’s where you come in: If there is one thing you can do to promote our freedom based motorcycling lifestyle in Minnesota, please consider helping one of A.B.A.T.E. of Minnesota’s committees in some way. Take a look at page three of the Road Noise and pick one contact. Call that per- son and simply say “I’m ready to lend a hand but not sure what to do”. You will make a new friend, feel better about yourself and help preserve motorcycling in Minnesota all at the same time. Think about your road and your ride. In 2014 dedicate some time and effort to preserving what you have and making it better in the future. It’s a win-win for you and your motorcycle! Yours in freedom, Mack A S C SSISTANT TATE OORDINATOR KEVIN TODD (507) 766-1411 [email protected] All right, I get it! Minnesota, winter, cold, snow, ice, wind-chill. Enough is enough! Anyway, we are about a month from our Bikerday at the Capitol and I do hope to see every one of you there as this promises to be an interesting year for bikers in Minnesota. As mentioned many times, there is strength in numbers. A posi- tive representation needs a lot of people in St Paul. You know what to do. Register, show up, tell everyone to pre-register and we all can make a difference. It’s funny now the CDC wants to mandate helmet use in all 50 States. CDC – Center for Disease Control. Does that mean that if we wear a helmet, we are diseased? Wow, what a thought. January Board Meeting was held in beautiful Worthington and a big thanks to the Southwest Chapter and that District.
