After nearly a decade of advising doctoral students on methodological matters related to digital discourse analysis, I was well aware that this volume—which he and I envisioned together—could serve as a valuable resource for both students and scholars in our field. Of course, this volume would not have been possible without the authors who so generously contributed their work to it. I am thankful to each and every one of these colleagues, who managed to meet deadlines and produce inspiring chapters during a period of unprecedented stress and challenge brought on by a global pandemic, and in spite of numerous other competing demands on their time. And I am particularly grateful to this amazing community of scholars for being willing to share the details of their research stories, including their challenges, their trials and tribulations, and all the exciting messiness of the research process, which is normally excluded from our academic publications. In addition, I thank the six reviewers of the book’s proposal for their positive response to this project as well as their constructive suggestions, which have helped shape the project in a number of important ways. Following Andrew’s departure, Becky Holland and Morwenna Scott at Bloomsbury provided helpful editorial assistance at different stages of the publication process. Finally, I am grateful to my friends and family for their enthusiasm about this book: to Irene Cenni for moral support and feedback on my introductory chapter, and to my husband, Ruben Vásquez, for technical assistance and for his unwavering support of all my endeavors, both scholarly and non-scholarly.
