Preface Originally, a single volume was planned to cover the field of Proteoly- tic Enzymes in Coagulation, Fibrinolysis, and Complement Activation, but it soon became evident that--related though these topics may be--the material would have to be published in two parts. In this volume of Methods in Enzymology (223, Part B) the important fields of complement activation and fibrinolysis and the esoteric area of increasing pharmaco- logical interest nonmammalian blood coagulation factors and inhibitors are covered. Its companion Volume 222, Part A deals with mammalian coagulation factors and inhibitors. OLZSAL DNAROL HTENNEK G. MANN iiix METHODS IN ENZYMOLOGY EMULOV I.
