Off-campuscollege-sponsoredeventsaresubjecttotherequirementsofstateandfederal laws(Chapter18BofGeneralStatutesofNorthCarolina,21CFRPart1308andotherFederalRegulations). Studentsrepresentingthecollegeatoff-campuseventsarerequiredtoknowandfollowthestudentrightsand responsibilitiesprintedinthecurrentcollegecatalog. Nostudentorganizationorclubshallpurchase,giveaway, orsellanyaforementionedintoxicatingbeverageorsubstance. Anyoneknowntobeundertheinfluenceofany aforementionedsubstanceisprohibitedfromthecollegeproperty. Inaddition,theintroduction,possession, sale,exchange,and/orusethereofisconsideredgroundsfordismissalandpossiblelegalaction. Useofadrug authorizedbyamedicalprescriptionfromaregisteredphysicianshallnotbeconsideredaviolationofthisrule. "Controlledsubstances"includeanydruglistedin21CFRPart1308andotherfederalregulations. Alcoholicbeveragesincludebeer,wine,whiskey,andanyotherbeveragelistedinChapter18BoftheGeneral StatuteofNorthCarolina. Anystudentconvictedofviolatinganycriminaldrugstatutewhileintheworkforce, (work-study)onthecollegepremises,orwhilepartofacollege-sponsoredactivitywillbesubjecttodisciplinary actionuptoandincludingterminationanddismissal. Analternativemayincludecompletionofanapproved drugabuseoralcoholrehabilitationprogramasapreconditionforcontinuedemploymentorenrollmentatthe college. Studentsmustinformthecollegeinwritingwithinten(10)workingdaysofbeingconvictedofaviolation ofanycriminaldrugstatuteoralcoholicbeveragestatutethatoccurredwhileonthecollegecampusorwhile participatingincollege-sponsoredactivities. Ifwork-studystudentsworkingunderfederalgrantmoniesareconvictedofviolatingdruglawsintheworkplace, oncollegepremisesoraspartofacollege-sponsoredactivity,theywillbereportedtotheappropriatefederal agency. Asaconditionoffurtheremploymentonanyfederalgovernmentgrant,thelawrequiresallemployeesto abidebythispolicy. StudentsreceivingFederalStudentAidmustabidebytheAnti-DrugAbuseActCertification printedontheStudentAidReport.
