AlIen.- ROBERT ALLEN, LLD., Coolgrena House, Rush brooke, co Cork; fifth son of Joseph Allen, merchant, late of Ashton Lawn, Blackrock, Cork; born at Roreen Mannah House, near Cork, February 7th, 18-+8; educated at Queen's College, Cork, then a College of the Queen's University in Ireland; Prize man and Scholar in Mathematics an~ Law; graduated with Honours, in 1868, and subsequently took the degrees of LL.B. and LL.D.; a member of the King's Inn in Dublin and Middle Temple; admitted to the Irish Bar, in 1871, and pro ceeded to India, where he practised as an Advocate of the High Court of Judicature at Fort vVilliam in Bengal; at Calcutta from February, 1872, until March, 1905, when he retired; for many years a member of the Board of Examiners for the admission of Articled Clerks as Attorneys in Calcutta, and also an Examiner in Law in the Calcutta University; has resided Mr. Robert Allen, LL.
