This old-time Methodist minister said, “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it!” One time the Holy Spirit said it directly to me in another way, “You’ll never hit anything you do not aim at!” That left me musing for a while! Could that principle be true about our individual lives? We know it is true about businesses and large organizations…. But could this be true about our personal lives as well? I have never been one that did well with a Franklin planner. Some people’s lives and some church ministries are so well greased, programmed, and organized, that they come off plastic. Sometimes I am amazed at how well they do with so little of God! It is like the analogy stated by A.W. Tozer, the fabled revivalist of many years ago is said to have given: “If the Holy Spirit were removed from the church of the Book of Acts, 95 percent of what they did would cease and only 5 percent would remain. But if the Holy Spirit were removed from today’s church, only 5 percent of what they do would cease and 95 percent of it would continue.” Sad statement then, but it contains a truth for us today as well. 9 personal_development_God's_way_TEXT.indd 9 3/15/10 12:05:53 PM
