Special attention was reserved for metastable states obtained by heavy deformation, radiation damage or rapid quenching. In this perspective disordering and ordering phenomena are distinct from those of the equilibrium order-disorder transitions. Nevertheless we welcomed contri butions on equilibrium phase transitions which help develop a better understanding of metastable states. Some authors concentrated on short-range (SRO) ordering and disordering as distinct from long-range-ordering (LRO) while still others considered conditions of destruction of LRO down to the onset of amorphisation. These contributions resulted in a broader and more interdisciplinary debate and the presentation of the latest experimental findings and theoretical models. This proceedings volume is organized in two parts. Part I concentrates on disordering and ordering in LI2 and other cubic superlattice alloys while Part II covers the other mentioned areas.
