I have had fun trying to make it look like one, but it is not. It is a Ph.D. thesis, andassuchithasbeencompletedoverthelastfewweeksundertheslogan of “an anonymous, but very experienced supervisor” at Lund University Cognitive Science: “Ph.D. theses should not be perfect, they should be done.” ItappearsIhavesucceededinachievingbothdesiderata. Many people have been generous to me with their help, support, and encouragement while I have been working on the thesis, and I am very gratefulforit. IhavegenerallyfoundthepeopleIhavemetinSka˚netobe soextraordinarilykindandconsideratethatIalmostwishIhadbeenborn a Swede. Well, Ska˚ne is more Danish than Swedish anyway, so it figures.1 Iwouldespeciallyliketothankthefollowinglonglistofpeople. Richard Andersson, Lenisa Branda˜o, Nils Holmberg, Marcus Nystro¨m, Roger Johansson, Jaana Simola, and Janna Spanne from the eye-tracking group at Lund University’s Humanities Lab for tirelessly commenting on my texts, often the same one many times over, and for great companion- shipandlotsofgood, cleanfunondiversetripsandconferences. My supervisors Kenneth Holmqvist and Jana Holsanova, for your su- pervision and guidance, for doing the parent thing when the thesis made me behave like a frustrated 4-year-old, for all the enjoyable social gath- erings, work-related and otherwise, and for your generous hospitality on manyoccasions. 1 Kungshuset(‘TheKing’sHouse’)containingLundUniversityCognitiveScienceasa partoftheDepartmentofPhilosophy, aswellasLund’smagnificentcathedraljustacross fromit, werebuiltbyDanishkings. ix
