Tighter stitches will give your toy a clean and polished look preventing the stuffing from showing through. If you use a Tip different yarn weight and hook size you may find you need to adjust the parts to fit your amigurumi. Usually this is an easy fix by just going up/down a hook size. ©2018 Chie Powles www.aidieandjellybean.etsy.com 22 Abbreviations: st(s) = stitch(es) ch = chain sc = single crochet dc = double crochet hdc = half double crochet sl st = slip stitch inc = increase (2 sc in one stitch) dec = decrease (2 sc together) (…) = repeat the instructions in the brackets the given number of times […] = total number of stitches *The owl is crocheted continuously in spiral (unless specified otherwise), marking the beginning of each round with a stitch marker (optional but will be easier to follow for beginners) Head: *With the SILVER yarn and 3.00mm hook Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6] Round 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12] Round 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18] Round 4: (inc, sc in next 2 sts) repeat 6 times [24] Round 5: (sc in the next 3 sts, inc) repeat 6 times [30] Round 6: sc in the next 2 sts, inc, (sc in the next 4 sts, inc) repeat 5 times, sc in the next 2 sts [36] Round 7: (inc, sc in next 5 sts) repeat 6 times [42] Round 8-15: sc in all 42 sts [42] Round 16: (dec, sc in next 5 sts) repeat 6 times [36] Round 17: (dec, sc in next 4 sts) repeat 6 times [30] Round 18: (dec, sc in next 3 sts) repeat 6 times [24] Round 19: (dec, sc in next 2 sts) repeat 6 times [18] Round 20: (dec, sc in next st) repeat 6 times [12] Round 21: (dec) repeat 6 times [6] Leave a tail for weaving and fasten off ©2018 Chie Powles www.aidieandjellybean.etsy.com 23 Ears: make 2 The owl’s ears are crocheted directly onto the head.
