Commercial Crew Development Program Overview Rick Russell, NASA KennedySpace Center Abstract: NASA'sCommercial Crew Development Program is designed to stimulate effortswithin the private sectorthat will aid in the developmentand demonstration ofsafe, reliable, and cost-effective space transportation capabilities. With thegoal ofdeliverycargo and eventuallycrewto Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and the International Space Station (ISS)the program is designed to fosterthe developmentofnew spacecraftand launch vehicles in the commercial sector. Through SpaceAct Agreements (SAAs) in 2011 NASAprovided $50M offunding to four partners; Blue Origin, The BoeingCompany, Sierra Nevada Corporation, and SpaceX. Additional, NASAhas signed two unfunded SAAswith ATKand United Space Alliance. a This paperwill give abriefsummaryoftheseSAAs. Additionally, briefoverview will be provided ofthe released version ofthe Commercial Crew Development Program plans and requirements documents.
