Thefieldworkincludeda REMOTS®sediment-profilesurvey, abathymetricsurvey, anacousticsedimentdensitystudy, andsedimentsamplingfor chemistryandgrainsize. Thebathymetricsurvey, whencomparedtotheprevious bathymetricsurveyinJanuary1989, showedaccumulationsupto0.75mthickwithin200mofthebuoy. Thecomparisonof the1989and 1992bathymetricsurveysalsoindicatedanareaofaccumulation500msouthofthebuoy. Theacousticsedimentdensitysurveyshowedthat, ingeneral, thecoarsergrainedsedimentwasconcentratedin waterdepthsshallowerthan54m, andthefinergrainedsedimentwasconcentratedinthedeeperareas. Theacousticdata werepatchyand, aftersmoothing, precludedidentificationoftheprojectcapmaterial. Thepatchinesswasattributedtoboth theheterogeneityofdredgedmaterialandtherapidlychangingslopesinthesurveyarea.
