About the Author Stan Romanek grew up in an Air Force family, migrating among various military bases in the Midwest and Western United States. He and his wife and family are now settled in the Midwest, where he works in the computer field. As an adult, Stan has pursued various athletic challenges: he has been a champion bodybuilder, gymnast, swimmer, and an Olympic hopeful in cycling. In contrast, his paranormal experiences, which he sometimes refers to as “high strangeness,” have placed him on a course so bizarre that he strives desperately to understand. Stan has appeared on all the major television networks, as well as many other cable and local stations, including a Peter Jennings ABC special, Larry King Live, Fox and Friends, and the ABC Morning Show. The list of his radio appearances and interviews is even longer, on stations from coast to coast. He’s been a featured speaker at conferences on UFOs, and been interviewed or has written for several UFO and paranormal-themed magazines. While the list of friends who have seen me through these experiences would fill several pages, I especially want to single out a few specific people. My good friend Mark Stahl and my sister Ann Romanek have both been a source of considerable support and encouragement. A word of gratitude is also due to Drs. Kasher, Sprinkle, and Swanson, along with the many researchers who have been willing to put their professional credentials on the line to substantiate my story. I want to acknowledge Nancy Talbott for her dedication and efforts in arranging all the scientific analysis of the physical evidence in my case. Her expertise has been an asset in making this case scientifically sound. I also want to thank documentary filmmaker Clay Roberts for the many hours he has put into helping me document my experiences, and for his work on a documentary to be released in the future. Thanks to my agent, Anita Kushen, for the many hours she has put into making this book a reality. Additionally, I want to thank Alejandro Rojas and all the people at MUFON for their assistance, as well as Rick Nelson from the Paranormal Research Forum, a valuable friend and asset to the research team who is always the voice of reason. I would also like to acknowledge our new friend, Jack Butler, for his generosity in supporting the cause. Thanks to our friend Heidi Soudani, who has been a source of support to both my wife Lisa and me. I want to thank Victoria Albright for her friendship and help with business matters, and for her optimism and undying commitment to this project. Finally, I want to thank Jeff Peckman for bringing worldwide attention to my story and this subject matter through his ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver, and his efforts to create a White House Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission. Most of all I want to thank my beautiful and loving wife, Lisa, without whose love and support none of this would have been possible. Your patience and understanding have been more valuable than you can imagine. [contents]
