Description:This final volume in the "Mechanical Vibrations and Shocks" series is concerned with applying the principle of tailorization to the method of specification development. The extreme response and failure damage spectra are defined for each type of stress - sinusoidal vibrations, swept sine, shock random vibrations etc. The process for establishing specification from the life cycle profile of the equipment is then detailed, taking account of the uncertainty factor. This is designed to cover uncertainties related to dispersion of the real environment and mechanical strength, and of the test factor, which takes account of the number of tests performed to demonstrate the resistance of the equipment.
