IRS P6 LISS III data of October, March and April months of 2004-05 and 2011- 12 were visually analysed for interpretation and temporal change was studied. The results indicate that LISS III data of April month on 1:50000 scale was found very useful for identification and mapping of agroforestry plantations in this region. Total area under agroforestry in the Bist Doab region was obtained as 7078 ha and 17527 ha in year 2005 and 2012 respectively. The major portion of this increase was occupied by Hoshiarpur district with 36 per cent followed by Jalandhar district occupying 28 per cent of this increase. Kapurthala and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts recorded 25 and 11 per cent increase in agroforestry area respectively. Also, in view of changing scenario of LULC, different land use/land cover classes of Hoshiarpur were delineated by visual interpretation at level 1 of USGS LULC classification system. A total of 6 classes viz. built up, agricultural land, forest land, waste land, wet land and water body were interpreted. Agricultural land dominated the landscape of Hoshiarpur by occupying 86.15 per cent of TGA followed by forest land which occupied 9.74 per cent of TGA. Very small area, in comparison, was covered by built-up which is 2.22 per cent of TGA. Land use/land cover maps and agroforestry maps generated in the present study will be useful for decision makers, planners, academicians and researchers. Keywords: LISS III, LULC, visual interpretation, agroforestry, Bist Doab, Hoshiarpur. ________________________ _____________________ Signature of Major Advisor Signature of the Student Koj-inbMD dw isrlyK : p Mj w b dy ibsq duAwb Kyqr iv`c irmot sYNisMg Aq y jI.AweI.AYs dI vrqoN krky KyqI jMglwq Aqy bwgbwnI ADIn rkby dw mwnic`qr iqAwr krnw ividAwrQI dw nW Aqy dw^lw nMbr : AiBmnXU Srmw (AY~l-2012-ey eI-201-AY~m) mu`K ivSw : i r m ot s YN isMg Aqy jI.AweI.AYs. au~p ivSw : k Mi p a Ut r s wi e Ms Aqy ieMjInIAirMg mu`K slwhkwr dw nwm Aqy : fw. ey. ky. jYn Ahudw pRoPYsr, im`tI Aq y pwxI ieMjInIAirMg ivBwg imlx vwlI ifgrI : : AYm.tY~k ifgrI imlx dw swl : : 2015 Koj-inbMD dy k`ul pMny : : 46+vItw XUnIvristI dw nwm : pMjwb KyqIbwVI XUnIvristI, luiDAwxw-141004, pMjwb, Bwrq swr pMjwb iv`c KyqIvxW dI mh`qqw nUM smJidAW hoieAW Aq y KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby sbMDI BrosymMd AWkiVAW dy auplbD nw hox kwrn, mjO Udw AiDAYn irmot sYNisMg ivDIAW dI vrqoN krky pMjwb rwj dy ibsq duAwb Kyqr iv`c KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby dI pihcwx Aqy auhnW dw mwnic`qr iqAwr krn dy mksd nwl kIqw igAw[ ivvycn Aqy AsQweI pirvrqnW dw AiDAYn krn leI sMn 2004-05 Aqy 2011-12 dy AkqUbr, mwrc Aqy ApRYl mhIinAW dy IRS P6 LISS III AWkiVAW nw mulWkx kIqw igAw[ AiDAYn dy nqIijAW qoN ieh q`Q swhmxy Awey ik ies Kyqr iv`c KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby dI pihcwx Aq y auhnW dw mwnic`qr iqAwr krn leI 1:50000 skyl aupr ApRYl mhIny dy LISS III AWkVy bhuq aupXogI sn[ ibsq duAwb Kyqr iv`c sMn 2005 Aqy 2012 iv`c KyqI jMglwq ADIn kRmvwr 7078 hYktyAr Aqy 17527 hYktyAr rkbw sI[ KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby iv`c hoey ies vDy iv`coN huiSAwrpur ijLHy iv`c sB qoN vDyry 36 pRqISq Aqy ies auprMq jlMDr ijlHy iv`c 28 pRqISq rkby iv`c vwDw hoieAw[ kpUrQlw Aq y ShId Bgq isMG ngr ijilAH W iv`c KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby iv`c kRmvwr 25 Aq y 11 pRqISq vwDw hoieAw[ LULC bdldI rUp-ryKw dy md` ynzr, USGS LULC SRyxIgq pRxwlI dy 1 pRqISq p`Dr aupr ivXUAl ientrpRItySn dI vrqoN nwl huiSAwrpur ijlHy dIAW v`Ko v`KrIAW jmIn dI vrqoN/jmInI inrmwx SRyxIAW dw nkSw iqAwr kIqw igAw[ ku`l Cy SRyxIAW Bwv asu wrIAW, KyqI jMglwq ADIn BUmI, jMglW ADIn BUmI, KwlI peI zmIn, ig`lI Aqy jl ADIn BmU I dw ivvycn kIqw igAw[ huiSAwrpur ijlHy iv`c ku`l Bugoilk Kyqr dw 86.15 pRqISq rkbw KyqI jMglwq ADIn sI Aqy 9.74 pRqISq rkbw vxW ADIn sI[ ku`l Bugoilk Kyqr dw 2.22 pRqISq rkbw auswrIgq iemwrqW ADIn pwieAw igAw[ mjO Udw AiDAYn dOrwn jmIn dI vrqoN/jmInI inrmwx Aq y KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkby dy iqAwr kIqy gey mwnic`qr inrxw lYx vwilAW, Xojnw bnwaux vwilAW Aqy Kjo krqwvW leI lwhyvMd is`D hovygw[ mu`K Sbd: LISS III, LULC, idRSwqmk ivvycn, KyqI jMglwq ADIn rkbw, ibsq duAwb, huiSAwrpur _________________ ________________ mu`K slwhkwr d y hsqwKr iv`idAwrQI dy hsqwKr CONTENTS CHAPTER TOPIC PAGE NO.
