AntoinedeSaint-Exupéry Preface This volume contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Man-MachineInteractions(ICMMI 2013)which was held at Brenna,Poland dur- ingOctober22nd–25th,2013.ICMMIConferencesare organizedbienniallysince 2009.ThefirstICMMIConferencewasdedicatedtothememoryofAdamMrózek, distinguishedscientistintheareaofdecisionsupportsystemsinindustrialapplica- tions.Theeventturnedoutto besucha successthatithasbeendecidedtotreatit asthebeginningofthecycleofconferencesbringingtogetherscientistsinterested inallaspectsoftheoryandpracticeofMan-MachineInteractions.Sincethebegin- ning,theConferenceprovidesaninternationalforumforexchangingideas,setting questions for discussion, and sharing the experience and knowledge among wide communityofscientists. Man-MachineInteractionisaninterdisciplinaryfieldofresearch.Broadrangeof topicscoversmanyaspectsofsciencefocusedonahumanandmachineinconjunc- tionandmanydifferentsubjectsareinvolvedtoreachthelong-termresearchobjec- tiveofanintuitive,naturalandmultimodalwayofinteractionwithmachines.The authors with differentbackgroundresearch area contributed to the success of this volume.ICMMI2103conferenceattracted167authorsfrom10differentcountries acrosstheworld.ThereviewprocesswasconductedbythemembersofProgramme Committeewithhelpofexternalreviewers.Eachpaperwassubjectedtoatleasttwo independentreviewsandmanyofthemhadthree.Finally,66paperswereselected forpresentations.Here,wewouldliketoexpressourgratitudetothePCmembers andreviewersfortheirworkandcriticalcomments. This volumecontainsfourinvitedand 66 high-qualityreviewedpapersdivided into eleven topical sections, namely: human-computerinteractions, robot control, embedded and navigation systems, bio data analysis and mining, biomedical sig- nalprocessing,imageand soundprocessing,decisionsupportandexpertsystems, rough and fuzzy systems, pattern recognition, algorithms and optimization, com- puternetworksandmobiletechnologiesanddatamanagementsystems.
