Dear Reader,
This book was referenced in one of the 185 issues of 'The Builder' Magazine which was
published between January 1915 and May 1930. To celebrate the centennial of this
publication, the Pictoumasons website presents a complete set of indexed issues of the
magazine. As far as the editor was able to, books which were suggested to the reader

PROCLAMATION.
THELiturgy, Monitor, or Manual, oftheAncient andAccepted
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, as that Rite is practiced in the
Southern Jurisdietiorr of the United States (of which Liturgy
the pages that follow constitute the First Part), has been pre
pared by the Sovereign Grand Commander, in pursuance of the
Resolution on a preceding page, and accords with the Ritual of
the Rite approved by the Supreme Council.
Itis hoped that it may not prove entirely unworthy of the
acceptance and consideration of the Craft, and.that it may prove
useful to the initiated.
Nothing whatever, contained in this Liturgy, or in the Rituals
of the Degrees of the Rite, has been copied or borrowed from any
other modern Liturgy, Monitor, Manual, or Ritual; andwhatever
isthe same in the Liturgies and Rituals, and Booksof Ceremonies
or Offices,of the Southern Jurisdiction, and in the Book of the
Ancient and Accepted Rite, by Bro.·. Charles T. McClenachan,
01'in any Ritual, or Book of Ceremonial, of the Northern Juris
diction, has been borrowed and copied from our Rituals and
Booksof Ceremonies.
The Author and Compiler has no pecuniary interest in these
or in any works published for use in the Southern Jurisdiction;
all have been published by and for the benefit of the Supreme
