Greider Dean of the Faculty Sheryl A. Kujawa-Holbro。k May2015 ABSTRACT THE ENNEAGRAM APPLIED TO COUPLES AND CONGREGATIONS IN KOREAN CONTEXT by y。ngK。。Jung Nowadays, Korean churches tend to c。ncentratemore on quantitative gr。wth, but still struggle with accomphshmg qualitative growth such as communal maturity and healthy relational c。uplemteractl。nsin the church To achieve such g。wthand a deep understanding 。fc。uple κlat1onsh1ps, there is a need for small group act1v1t1es within the church. Typical examples 。fhelpfulactivities are th。sethat involve the family gr。up Family is the foundation of all groups ma church, and the healthy relati。nshipbetween husband and wife has a great positive impact 。nother small groups Therefore, c。nflicts between husband and wife that hurt each 。therwill cause crises m fam1hes This frequently results m adverse influences on children immediately, and eventually may have negative effects 。nrelau。nshipswithin the church From this pomt ofv1ew, supporting couples as they learn to develop healthy relationships is an important factorthat leads to qualitative growth of the church. Thus, programs that enhance c。uplerelationships are required m the church, and I will prop。se using Enneagram programs that deal with individuals' natural and essential desires and tendencies as a model of a couple relati。nshipenhancement program in the church. The results of this pr。~ectaπ summarized as follows First, the elements of the qualitative growth ofa couple ministry in the church community was understood as prom이ing these factors I) understand mg the characteristics ofone s spouse, 2) kn。wingdiπerences in sens。rypreference, 3) hstenmg to each 。ther,4) promoting conversations, 5) expressing aπect,。n‘6) understanding the preferential behavi。rofone’s spouse, and 7) dealmg with g。nflicts Second, Enneagram programs help c。uplest。check the1r 。wnstπngthsand weaknesses and guide them to respect each other. Third, th1S project shows what changes happen using this program This project was done with 16 couples who were selected from the K。rean G。。dlandPresbyterian Church, and c。nfirmedthe1r marital experience level through an interview report. The experience πp。nis expected to sh。wan increase in their emotional depth, the strength 。freflect,。n,understandmg others with empathetic attitude‘ as well as the level 。fcl。senessl。each other. Moreover, when the mtimate couple attends church, the c。upletends to easily become mvolved members of the church, and this 1mmed1ately aπects the quahtat1ve growth of the church This study focuses 。nrealistic phen。mena, showing h。wcouples with conflicts are able to develop healthy relauonsh1ps, and 11 will produce meanmgfi비 data t。 dem。nstrateh。wthe church is able to grow quahtat1vely by applymg the organic model of Enneagram. Add1t1onal reseaπh studies are required t。exp I。mm。πdeeply how th1S model can be used t。increase healthy and qualitative growth in the church. Future studies can also expl。rea wide range ofκlau。nsh1pissues that can enhance healthy family life. KEYWORDS: Marital Growth Program, Qualitative growth of the Church, Enneagram, Hatunna SUMMARY This project explores how the church helps couples devel。ph。listicrelationships as well as how the development of couple relauonsh1ps affects qualitauve 딩rowth within the church. Many curπnt couple relationship enhancement programs in the church deal primarily with external aspects of couple relationships. Thus, this project tries to perform a study m which I gradually m。ve From c。uples" unc。nscious inner world to their conscious levels of thought l。prop。sepracucal practices for improving relationships The first chapter.‘ summarizes the c。nceptof qualitative growth through a discuss,。nof the arguments and the importance of the ra1Sed 1Ssues 。nthe qualitative growth of church Also‘ 1t introduces the definitions of key tenns and methodology 。fthe evaluauon or exist mg research‘ and reveals the extents and hm1tat1ons of the study In P하ticular. healing and caring 。fthemarital relati。nshipwhich is the smallest unit of qualitative growth. should make the quality of the mteracuon between each 。therl。be an integrated process with conscious communication from the unconscious reaction patterns And furtherthe influence 。finteract,。nshould be able to act as a fact。r。fthehealthy community. The quality 。finteract,。nIS that it should be able to rec。gnizethe difference fully between each other. Therefore, the need for program devel。pmentto help the growth of the marital relauonship was emphasized In Chapter 2, the theological approach t。qu히llallve growth of church was attempted by expanding Christian A Schwarz’s l。veπlau。nshipamong his eight kinds of the。riesof holisuc small groups It helps to understand the relevance and qualitative growth of the quantitative, qualitative, and organic aspects 。fchurch growth, and the approach, such as the h。meministry Also, 1t helps t。understand and to organize the view 。ffamllyfor the qual11at1ve approach through Biblical approach:‘ Old Testament’s view of family, Jesus Christ’s view of family, Paul’s view 。ffam1ly.In addlli。n,through the ecclesi。logyof the home model of Gen Gets, the role 。fmamage, family and church was looked at as theologically. And, family-theological approach was done by looking at the four virtues 。famamage that C. J. Whitehead emphasizes self-recognillon and understanding, expresSJ。nof intimacy, maintaining the faithfulness, and integration of wisdom In Chapter 3, the psychol。g1calapproach 。nmarital relationship -which is the basis r。rthe qualllallve growth 。fchurch-was done First, the research 。nmarital relat1onsh1p were found from home and abroad, then these following studies helped to understand and to approach to the marital relationships; John M.
