ThisIndianStandardwasoriginallypublishedin1963 andsubsequentlyrevisedin1985.Thisrevision ofthestandard hasbeentakenuptoalignitwithISO8493byadoption.underdual numberingsystem. The text of the ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologyandconventions are. however.notidentical to those used in IndianStandards. NOTE- Non·roundedornon-ehamferededges818perrnieaiMiftheteatresunmeetstheteatrequirements. 1.3 Whenweldedtubesaresubjectedtothetest,theinternalweldflashmayberemoved. 8 Procedure 1.1 Ingeneral,thetestlhallbe carriedoutatambienttemperaturewithinthelimitsof10°Cto35OCtThetest carriedoutundercontrolledconditionsshallbemadeatatemperatureof23°C±5°C. 1.2 Forcetheconicalmandrelintothetestpiece,withoutshock,untiltherequiredoutsidediameterisreached.The axiloftheconicalmandrelshallbealignedwiththeaxisofthetube. Themaximumoutsidediameteroftheexpandedpartofthetestpiece,Du'orrelativeexpansionasapercentageof the originaldiameter,D,shallbespecifiedIntherelevantproductstandard.Theangle oftheconicalmandrel,fj, maybespecifiedintherelevantproductstaftdard. Whenlongitudinallyweldedtubesaresubjectedtothetest,theconicalmandrelmaybeprovidedwithagrooveto accommodateanintemalweldflash. 1.3 Theconicalmandrelmaybelubricated.Itshallnotrotaterelativetothet_tpieceduringthetest. 1.4 Incaseofdispute,therateofpenetrationoftheconicalmandrellhalnotexceed50nvnImin. 1.1 Interpretation ofthe drtft-expandlng teat IhaII becarried out inaccordancewIIh therequirementa ofthe relevantproduct8tandard.Whenthe8erequirementsarenotapecifted,theteetpieceshallbeconsideredtohave puaedtheteatifnocrack8....visiblewithouttheuseofmagnifyingaida.SlightcrackingattheedgesIhaIInotbe consideredcauseforrejection.
