Amusement water parks in India are becoming very popular now-a-days and people visit these parks quite often. Younger generation particularly children enjoy while playing in water. In the recent past some incidents have resulted in loss of life as enjoyment in water is risky and requires special attention. Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court desired that Bureau of Indian Standards should prepare recommended Code of practice for safety in water parks and also instructed to finalize the National Code covering necessary guidelines which Inay ensure safety of personsinwaterparks.Inordertoimplement the directive of Hon’ble Court an attempt has been made to stipulate safety in the form of.a National Code. It is hoped that organizers, manufactures of the equipment and accessories relating to water parks and operators of water parks would make use of this Code to ensure overall safety of human beings and equipment at such places. Although most of the safety parameters relating to safety have been covered in safety codes relating to amusement rides, this Code covers general information andgeneral requirements inorder toguide the manufacturers. operators and users. The Code of recommended practice for safety inwater parks isbeing brought out inthree parts.
