More and more corporate social responsibility demands from the different profes- sionals, namely, managers and engineers, the necessary knowledge, abilities and competences in order to better answer to the needs of the diverse organization’ stakeholders. A sustainable education is thus understood as a required issue that these professionals, as well as the organizations with which they collaborate (work), need to obtain. Higher education is a critical tool to the organization development due to its ability to change and to drive change and progress in organizations. It contributes to organizations more knowledge-based which lead to a more effective sustainable development of all those who are part of the organization. Given its critical role, it is important to follow and understand the changes and progress that higher education has been facing. Particularly in the field of management and engineering, it is important to understand the progress of higher education as only in this way it will be possible to have sustainable and socially responsible organizations able to answer and, above all, to anticipate the demands of different stakeholders. Higher education assumes a relevant role as it is vital to build the future of the society. It is the basis to obtain new skills, knowledge as well as new ideals necessary to an effective sociocultural and economic development. To understand and follow its progress is a concern for all those that are interested in being updated with the most recent knowledge. At the organizational level, it is critical that all its professionals, with a particular emphasis to managers and engineers, possess the necessary knowledge to guide the organization to success. This is why Higher Education: Progress for Management and Engineering is of huge importance for all those who somehow have interests in the organization, namely, researchers, academics, managers, and engineers. The development of a new book about Higher Education: Progress for Management and Engineering is essential because: • It introduces new lines of research in sustainable education in management and engineering fields; • It contributes to a deeper knowledge in higher education for managers and engineers; • The theories, strategies, and tools presented and discussed in the diverse chapter contributions will allow researchers, academics, managers, and engineers to take a more strategic role in their organizations. Many of us, either as academics/researchers or in the different jobs in organizations, found workers with excellent technical and behavioural skills. It is critical for them to know how to do, know how to be, and know how to know. These knowledge, vii viii Preface abilities, and competences are obtained from higher education, which is seen as a relevant tool necessary to obtain competitive and dynamic organizations, leading them to the desired success in national and international markets. Looking to promote research related to these new trends and developments in the field of management and engineering, the present book, divided in seven chapters, covers in Chapter 1 “Integrity in Higher Education: Revisiting Mary Parker Follett to Break New Ground”, while Chapter 2 discusses “Digital Transformation in Higher Education Institutions: Key Factors for ERP Projects Leadership”. Chapter 3 focuses “Academic Training Contribution to the Development of a Leadership Profile”, at the same time, Chapter 4 deals with “Higher Education Policy and Widening Participation: An Overview”. Chapter 5 contains information about “The Role of Public Universities in Entrepreneurship in Mexico”, while Chapter 6 highlights “Working with Students on Establishing a Student-Oriented Classroom Culture: A Teaching Initiative Designed to Build an Inclusive and Highly Engaging Learning Environment in Online and Face to Face Environments”. Finally, Chapter 7 speaks about “Human Resource Management in Education: A Brief Overview”. Higher Education: Progress for Management and Engineering, able to be used by academics, researchers, human resources managers, managers, engineers, and other professionals in related matters, addresses several dimensions of higher education/ sustainable education and its impact on business and the organization competitive- ness. Management and engineering in competitive organizations can be deeper improved with high levels of education of its collaborators. Like in other areas of management, it enables managers and engineers with a set of tools, knowledge, and strategies to better manage people, and so entrepreneurs stand to gain from it. The editors acknowledge their gratitude to CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Group for this opportunity and for their professional support. Finally, we would like to thank to all chapter authors for their interest and availability to work on this project.
