BMY This page intentionally left blank Preface Modern gastrointestinal imaging integrates all currently existing imaging modali- ties including multi-detector row CT, MRI, ultrasound, scintigraphy, fl uoroscopy, and radiography for the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal diseases. Th ese diseases occur in a wide range of organs in the abdomen and pelvis. Th ey are encountered not only during the GI rotation, but also on virtually all rotations. Th is casebook is a concise compilation of patients with classic gastrointestinal dis- eases evaluated by imaging. Th e practical teaching points in these cases are designed to be useful for practicing radiologists, radiology residents, medical students, and clinicians involved in the care of patients with gastrointestinal diseases. For convenience, the cases are organized by organ. Th ey are paginated for the reader to review the images as “unknown” followed by a discussion of the fi ndings in the case, diff erential diagnosis, pertinent teaching points on the disease process, and management. Th e text is designed to highlight the most important features of each disease process that allow it to be diagnosed based on the images provided in the case. Th is casebook is a companion and complement to our forthcoming Gastrointestinal Imaging textbook in the Oxford Rotations in Radiology Series.
