This directory is part of our continuing effort to identify and disseminate informa- tion about materials and programs that strengthen mathematics and science education in the United States. Section One of this publication identifies contacts for National programs admin- istered by each Federal agency or department, while Section Two takes a regional approach, list- ing Federally funded programs in each State and Territory. Located at The Ohio State University, the Clearinghouse is funded through a contract with the Office of Educational Research and Improvement of the U.S. Department of Education. The major mission of ENC is to provide K-12 teachers with a comprehensive source of information about mathematics and science education. In addition, ENC works closely with the Eisenhower Regional Consortia in the National effort to support systemic educational reform. The Consortia and the Clearinghouse collaborate to identify and distribute curricular materials for K-12 mathematics and science as well as products and services that enhance the professional development of teachers and other educators. ENC produces a variety of print publications and CD-ROMs available free to educators. In addition, all ENC materials, including this Guidebook, are available through ENC Online, a World Wide Web site accessible via the Internet and by modem through a toll-free number. For details on how to receive ENC publications or how to access ENC Online, refer to the fol- lowing pages. I wish to thank the representatives of the Federal agencies and the Regional Consortia who pro- vided information included in this Guidebook. I also wish to acknowledge the support provided by Aspen Systems Corporation and the work of the ENC Publications team who made this edi- tion of The Guidebook possible. Len Simutis, Director Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education
