Data cover earned degrees conferred in the aggregate United States. Degree data are compiled for a 12-month period, July of one year through June of the following year. In this report the racial and ethnic categories among U.S. citizens who received degrees during the 1987-94 period are charted and tabulated. Findings indicate that the number of bachelor's degrees in science and engineering (S&E) fields awarded to underrepresented minority students showed robust growth in the early 1990s after a period of relatively slow growth from 1985 to 1990.
