Of course, Emma meant actress, not mattress. But she never could have guessed that her dream would come true so quickly. Emma was nine years old when she tried out for a role in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She got the role of Hermione. Emma went on to play the part in seven more Harry Potter films. Emma loved watching From early on, Emma liked cartoons when she was little. She liked to being center stage. “I was dress up as her favorite probably a bit of a show-off in characters. She even wore her Snow White the sense that any chance to get outfit into stores. up and be seen, I did it,” she said. 4 Emma Watson dreamed of being an actress when she was growing up. 5 Emma played the role of Hermione in all eight Harry Potter films. 6 Chapter 2 Family Life Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, on April 15, 1990. Emma’s parents, Chris and Jacqueline, are lawyers. Emma has a younger brother named Alex. Emma’s parents divorced when she was five. So she also has five stepsiblings and half siblings. Emma’s parents moved home to England after the divorce. She and her brother split their time between their parents’ houses. In England, Emma attended Lynams School. At seven, she won a poetry prize at school. She recited a poem called “The Sea.” Emma said she loved finding out the real meanings of the words in poetry. She also loved how the audience reacted to her performances. “I just got really into it,” she said. 7 Emma was born in Paris, France. After Lynams, she attended the Dragon School. Emma liked acting in her school’s plays. “I practiced speeches in front of the mirror,” she said. “Whenever there was a part at school, I went for it.” 8
