BM(c)-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 BM(p)-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 About the Author Vernon Dale Jones received his B.S. degree (1979) in aeronautical engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, his M.B.A. degree (1982) with a concentration in management from the College of Business and Administration of Wright State University, his M.A. degree (1990) in science, technology, and public policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University, and his Ph.D. degree (1995) in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University. Additionally, he graduated from the Defense Systems Management College, where he completed the Program Manager's Course. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. He serves as an Associate Professor and Chief of the American and Policy Studies Division in the Department of Political Science on the faculty at the United States Air Force Academy. Additionally, he served as adjunct faculty member at Syracuse University for the Maxwell School's Department of Public Administration. During his career, he worked at the field level, headquarters level, and the Pentagon. He held positions as a flight test engineer, advanced technology aircraft development engineer, special assistant to the director of engineering, program staff officer, and manager of defense systems acquisition policies. Additionally, he was a White House aide to President Ronald Reagan and an intern at the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, where he was a strategic analyst. Jones is a 1997-1998 Fellow in the Council for Excellence in Government Fellows Program.
