Design and Analyze of a Pressure Vessel for an Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle Produced by Injection Molding Audun Werner Scheide Marine Technology Submission date: June 2016 Supervisor: Martin Ludvigsen, IMT Norwegian University of Science and Technology Department of Marine Technology i Preface This thesis present a design and analysis study of the pressure vessel for a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), produced by injection molding. The thesis is a part of my Degree in Master of Science with specialization in Marine Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The thesis has been written entirely during the spring semester in 2016, andcarriedoutincooperationwithBluEyeRobotics. BluEyeRoboticsisanewlyestablishedcompanythatproduceconsumermarketROVs.They originatedfromAMOSbyNTNU,andareworkingclosewithprofessorsandstudentsattheDe- partment of Marine Technology (IMT). Professor Martin Ludvigsen, my supervisor, presented some challenges and desires for their next generation prototype. This was a very interesting topic,whichIbelievecouldbealargecontributiontothecompany. Itisassumedthatthereaderarefamiliarwithbasichydrodynamicsandhavesomeknowl- edgeofmaterialbehavior. Also,itisassumedthatthereaderknowthebasicsbehindthefinite elementmethodandlinearanalyses.
