The Australasian DatabaseConferenceisanannualinternationalforumforsharingthelatestresearchad- vancementsand novelapplicationsof database systems, data-drivenapplications,and dataanalyticsbetweenresearchersandpractitionersfromaroundtheglobe,particularly Australia andNew Zealand.Themission of ADCis to sharenovelresearchsolutions toproblemsoftoday’sinformationsocietythatfulfilltheneedsofheterogeneousappli- cationsandenvironmentsandtoidentifynewissuesanddirectionsforfutureresearch. ADCseekspapersfromacademiaandindustrypresentingresearchonallpracticaland theoreticalaspectsofadvanceddatabasetheoryandapplications,aswellascasestud- ies and implementationexperiences.All topics related to database are of interest and within the scope ofthe conference.ADC givesresearchersand practitionersa unique opportunityto share theirperspectiveswith othersinterestedin the variousaspectsof databasesystems. ADC2015wasco-locatedwithACMSIGMOD2015(May31-June4,2015,Mel- bourne,Australia)andheldimmediatelyafterit.Asin previousyears,ADC2015ac- cepted all papers that the Program Committee considered as being of ADC quality withoutsettinganypredefinedquota.Theconferencereceived43submissionsandac- cepted29papers,including24fullresearchpapersandfivedemopapers.TheProgram Committee that selected the papers consisted of 49 members from around the globe, including Australia, China, Germany,Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Taiwan,theUK,andtheUSA,whowerethoroughanddedicatedtothereviewingpro- cess.Eachpaperwaspeerreviewedinfullbyatleastthreeindependentreviewers,and in some cases fourrefereesproducedindependentreviews. A consciousdecisionwas madetoselectthepapersforwhichallreviewswerepositiveandfavorable. WewouldliketothankallourcolleagueswhoservedontheProgramCommitteeor actedasexternalreviewers.Wewouldalsoliketothankalltheauthorswhosubmitted theirpapers,andtheattendees.Wehopethatwiththeseproceedings,youcanhavean overview of this vibrant research community and its activities. ADC is a leading Australia- and New Zealand-based international conference on researchandapplicationsofdatabasesystems,data-drivenapplications,anddataanalyt- ics.Inthepast10years,ADChasbeenheldinBrisbane(2014),Adelaide(2013),Mel- bourne(2012),Perth(2011),Brisbane(2010),Wellington(2009),Wollongong(2008), Ballarat(2007),Hobart(2006),andNewcastle(2005).Thisyear,theADCconference camebacktoMelbourne. In the past, the ADC conferenceseries was heldas partofthe AustralasianCom- puterScienceWeek(ACSW).Startingfrom2014,theADCconferenceshavedeparted fromACSWasthedatabaseresearchcommunityinAustralasiahasgrownsignificantly larger.Now the newADC conferencehasan expandedresearchprogramandfocuses oncommunity-buildingthroughaPhDSchool.ADC2015wasthesecondofthisnew ADCconferenceseries. The conference this year had three eminent speakers to give keynote speeches: TamerÖzsufromtheUniversityofWaterloo,Canada,GerhardWeikumfromtheMax PlanckInstituteforInformatics,Germany,andBingshengHefromtheNanyangTech- nological University, Singapore.In addition to 24 full research papers and five demo papers carefully selected by the Program Committee, we were also very fortunate to havetwoinvitedtalkspresentedbyworld-leadingresearchers:CyrusShahabifromthe University of SouthernCalifornia, USA, andLu Qin from the Universityof Technol- ogy,Sydney,Australia.Wehadathree-dayPhDSchoolprogramaspartofthisyear’s ADC.
