ThisvolumeisasubstantiallyrevisedversionofmyunpublishedPh.D.thesis(Uni-
versityofIoannina2014,inGreek),whichhasbeenelaboratedintheframeworkof
theprojectCommentariainAristotelemGraecaetByzantinaundertheauspicesofthe
Berlin‐BrandenburgischeAkademiederWissenschaftenduringtheyears2014–2021).
Thefirstpartofthisbookincludesabibliography,aninventoryofreferencedonline
sources,andanintroductiondividedintofourchapters.Thefirstchapterexamines
thereceptionofLeonMagentenos’workandpresentsacomprehensiveoverviewof
theresearchconductedonthisByzantinescholar.Thesecondchapterisdevotedto
theGreekexegetictraditionofthePriorAnalyticsthatexistedbeforeMagentenos.The
thirdchapterdealswithmanuscriptsandprintededitionstransmittingMagentenos’
commentaryonthesecondbookofthePriorAnalytics.Thistextseemstobethefirst
coherentcommentaryonPriorAnalyticsIIeverwritteninGreeksinceLateAntiquity
(seechapter2).Thefourthchapterisconcernedwiththeprinciplesemployedforthe
editionofthetextandofthelogicaldiagrams.Thesecondpartofthebookcomprises
acriticaleditionofMagentenos’commentsaswellanEnglishtranslation.Threein-
dices(nominum,verborum,locorum)andaglossaryoftechnicaltermsconcludethe
section.Thethirdpartconsistsoffiveappendices:threerelatetothelogicaldiagrams
attachedtoMagentenos’commentarybythemanuscripttradition;onecontainshith-
ertouneditedprolegomenatoPriorAnalyticsII;thefinalappendixcomprisescolla-
tionsofanearlier,interpolatedversionofMagentenos’commentsonthesamebook.
