With the grace of Almighty Allah, the uphill task on my shoulder has been accomplished.
If His blessings had not been with me, I would not have been able to see the face of success. The
completion of this dissertation is not only fulfillment of my dream, but also of my grandfather,
parents and uncles who have sacrificed a lot for me in completion of this course.
In fact, one cannot put in his lone effort to do research work without support of others
and I am not an exception. I take the opportunity with much pleasure to thank all the people, who
have helped me throughout the course of my journey towards completion of this dissertation either
directly or indirectly.
It is extremely difficult for me to express in words my gratitude towards my guide, Prof.

me and stood by me throughout my research work. He is not only my guide in this research work,
but has also been my teacher in UG and I have learned a lot from him. I am very lucky to find him
as my teacher again. Without his persuasion and interest, it would not have been possible for me
to gain the confidence that I have today. I am also indebt to my co-guide Dr. Najeeb Jahan,
Lecturer, Dept. of Ilmul Advia, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore, who had
guided me whenever I needed. She accompanied me whenever I went to Al-Ameen College of
Pharmacy, Bangalore, for some studies regarding my dissertation. It would not be possible for me
to complete this work without her keen interest and able guidance.
I feel pride to be thankful to Prof. M. A. Jafri, Director, National Institute of Unani
Medicine, Bangalore, for providing all sorts of facilities to complete this work and for his
affectionate behaviour.
I am very thankful to Dr. G. Sofi, Reader and Dr. Nasreen Jahan, Lecturer, Dept. of
Ilmul Advia, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore. Dr. G. Sofi had clarified every
aspect of my confusions, especially standardization and statistical analysis. The statistical
analysis is a very tough job in research work, without his support I could not do this job. Dr.
Nasreen Jahan also helped me several times, especially in dose calculation, drug administration,
observation and collection of samples etc.
I am also thankful to Prof. Irshad Ahmad and Dr. Shariq Shamshi, Lecturer, Dept. of
Ilmul Saidla, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore, who have guided me in
