Applied Cognitive and Behavioural Approaches to the Treatment of Addiction A Practical Treatment Guide Luke Mitcheson Jenny Maslin Tim Meynen Tamara Morrison Robert Hill Shamil Wanigaratne A John Wiley & Sons, Ltd., Publication Applied Cognitive and Behavioural Approaches to the Treatment of Addiction ‘The ways in which we interact with our clients are the essential tools of our trade. The National Institute for Clinical and Health Excellence has already pub- lished rigorous analyses of the evidence for various psychological approaches. But, until now, we have not had an authoritative guide to the relevant cognitive and behavioural therapeutic techniques. This book fi lls that void. It is easy to read and draws on the authors’ wealth of experience of working with clients with drug and alcohol problems. I expect this book rapidly to become a well-thumbed and widely-borrowed book which will help us all to improve the competence and quality of the interventions that we deliver.’ Professor John Strang, Director, National Addiction Centre, London Applied Cognitive and Behavioural Approaches to the Treatment of Addiction A Practical Treatment Guide Luke Mitcheson Jenny Maslin Tim Meynen Tamara Morrison Robert Hill Shamil Wanigaratne A John Wiley & Sons, Ltd., Publication This edition fi rst published 2010 © 2010 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
