Acknowledgments
All Things Paper is dedicated
to the delightful group of paper
artisans who were with me every
step of the way on a journey that
took us from the posts on my blog
to the pages of this book. We cre-
ated a new type of craft book in
which all of the projects were writ-
ten and photographed by the origi-
nal artists at their studios around
the world.
I thank the designers for their
attention to detail, willingness to
meet deadlines, and for making
my inbox such a happening place!
Heartfelt thanks also to my editor
Bud Sperry for his helpfulness, my
agent Kate McKean for her profes-
sionalism and quick wit, and espe-
cially my never-say-can’t husband
for his positive attitude.

Discover A new Hobby
When I began blogging, the goal was to share my love of the many creative
things that can be done with paper, and to also introduce those who work with
this humble medium to the world. I wasn’t positive there would be an audi-
ence, but surprise, surprise, there certainly was! One of the very best perks of
blogging has been the people I’ve met around the world and featured on my
website, as they are all such inspiring souls. Of course, tutorials are always
extremely popular because those of us who enjoy reading about the latest ideas
in the world of paper crafting are also usually interested in trying our hand at
actually making them.
But as often as I turn to the Internet for inspiration, there’s nothing quite
like feeling the smooth pages of a book in my hands and leaving one open on
my work table as a quick and easy reference. So what better thing to do than
ask some of my favorite paper artisans to create a bevy of brand new projects
complete with step-by-step instructions? You can imagine my excitement at
gathering a delightful collection between two covers!

Here you’ll find home décor ideas, fashion and jewelry accessories,
along with greeting cards and a journal, all from eighteen designers—a
true expression of hands-across-papercrafts. I hope the projects will cause
you to look at paper in a new light. Many are eco-friendly, and all are styl-
ish and functional. Create a garden of pretty flowers with crépe, fringed,
mulberry, and metallic papers. Be surprised by eye-catching accessories
that are sure to attract the most sophisticated wearer, and make necklaces
from rolled, folded, or punched paper. Learn novel techniques for fabri-
cating rope from an unexpected material, stitching on paper, and even
crocheting with paper! Discover wall décor that ranges from ever-popular
hand cut silhouettes to the use of paper scraps as a dual-purpose art gift.
Paging through the book will uncover a variety of new concepts—some
are quite simple and others are more involved. Beginners will be able to
replicate many of the projects, the majority of which use readily available
supplies. Gain new skills such as screen printing, bookbinding, paper
cutting, and box making. You’ll find complete instructions, diagrams,
and templates. So dig in, lose track of time, and most of all,
have fun. No doubt you’ll quickly determine the areas
of paper crafting that draw you in, bringing joy and
satisfaction. Here’s to finding a new hobby that
may last a lifetime!

The projects in this book are dimensioned with
Imperial/English units (inches) with Metric
units following (cm/mm). The metric conver-
sions are rounded for convenience, so please
ensure care when measuring to the published
numbers. Often these dimensions should be
interpreted as mere suggestions and you, the
artist, are encouraged to follow the projects ac-
cording to your own supplies, tools, and vision.
