The workshop was held online due totheCOVID-19restrictions.Thefocusofthisworkshopwasonthecontemporary andtechnologicallychallengingtopicsofmicro-patterngasdetectors,resistiveplate chambers, silicondetectorsandtheirapplicationinhighenergyphysicsexperiments, detectortechnologiesinnuclearphysics, detectorsimulation, societalapplications, andfutureprospects. The Proceedings of RAPID 2021 aimed to bring researchers, scientists, professors, andstudentsworkinginthefieldofdesigningandtestingdetectorsfor nuclearandparticlephysicsexperimentsandapplicationstopresentnewresultsand technologies, discuss and exchange ideas. The workshop is the first of its kind in Indiatobringresearchersworkingindifferentpartsoftheworldondetectortech- nologyforhigh-endtalks,fruitfuldiscussions,anddebates.Theworkshopattracted more than 150 participants including a large number of Ph.D. students and young scientistswhomadetheworkshopquitevibrantandlively. Professor Manoj Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, inau- gurated the workshop with the keynote address in the presence of invited guests and participants. The scientific deliberations included invited lectures, contributed presentations, talks by young researchers as well as laboratory tours to highlight thetechnologiesfromMPGD,ALICE,INO,CBM,DarkMatter,Calorimeter, and Particle Therapy. The workshop ended with the announcement of the three best- contributed talks and concluding remarks by the Chairman of the workshop, Prof. SanjeevSinghSambyal.Theworkshopconcludedwithaneveninglectureon“His- tory of Detector Development and Future Perspective in India” by Prof. Naba K.
