At a recent health conference in Munich, a friend of ours told us that a
new book by an American author, exposing the hazards of mobile pho
nes, had been summarily banned in Germany - literally overnight. Ob
viously, this aroused our interest. Why should any book being banned
pique our interest? Simple answer: every time a book is banned, it is in
variably because it either contains a pack of lies or else it tells the ho
nest truth. One may well ask why on earth a book that contains the ho
nest truth, backed up by sound, watertight research facts and
information, should be banned? Simple answer again: because it is con
trary to some particular group's vested interests! And in the case of the
mobile telephone industry, we are not talking small beer! This is a mas
sively powerful, multibillion dollar, multinational industry which, in its
financial greed for ever-increasing profits, is prepared to mercilessly sa
crifice the health and wellbeing of millions of people all over the world.
We wanted to get to the bottom of the matter and ordered the book from
the USA.2 After just the first few pages, we realised that this was not a
text for domestic consumption. Whilst unquestionably a work of the

highest quality, it was so full of technical concepts and written in such
a scientific way that it was definitely not for the layman! Although the
author was eminently successful in clearly highlighting the harmful ef
fects of mobile phones, two important aspects were missing: answers
and solutions. On studying this excellent work, the reader is made
aware of a multitude of hair-raising facts on the subject. However, even
with this newly found knowledge, he/she is nevertheless left very much
out in the cold.
It is an established fact that our society has not only become accusto
med to, but very much dependent upon, mobile telephones, television
signals, satellite transmissions and the instant ("real time") transmis
sion of information. The real problem is that no-one can possibly avoid
the cumulative radiation emitted by these devices, even if one wanted
to do so. Naturally, one could stick to an extremely rigid discipline and
cut down the use of mobiles to three minutes PER YEAR, for example,
as one eminent doctor in the USA proposed 3 but that is somewhat ex
treme and impractical. Unfortunately, the author of the banned book
gives no ready made answers or solutions as to how one can avoid the
harmful radiation from transmission masts and the myriad of other
sources, which the body is being bombarded with every second of
every day, wherever we go.
Having worked in big industry for many years and being only too aware
of every industry's self-interest and their insatiable greed for profits on
the one hand and the ever-increasing public desire (and demand) for
clarification and truth about mobile telephones (and microwave emis
sions) on the other, we decided to produce a book which could justifi
ably claim to be more complete in that it not only contained a myriad
of facts but also concrete answers, suggested solutions and, above all,
would be easily understood by lay people.
