As a class of individuals, you will need to assess your own gifts and talents to realize those dreams and your aspirations for the future. You will need to make hard decisions about the many choices you will be confronted with as you uncover your own path. You need to define for yourselves what success is, while at the same time, make a commitment to focus on whatever duty falls ahead of you. Langston Hughes put it simply when he made the statement, "Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams go, life is a barren field, frozen with snow." Reflecting on my own high school years, I realize I allowed random chance to guide me and my career path. I was one of the lucky ones that was able to land on my feet. Your destiny need not be left to random chance; you actually have the capacity of choice which makes your destiny a product of your decision making...I feel that your destiny is ultimately related to YOUR future choices and aspirations. John W. Whitehead said, "Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see." How true that sounds when you think of these words from the perspective of a parent or teacher. I wish you all life's best as we send you on your way. Mr. David L. Chambers Dedication * * * $ The Class of 2008 would like to dedicate their yearbook to Mrs. Marie Herbst. Mrs. Herbst is very £well liked by everyone she comes in contact with. Her dedication to her students and the school has put a positive attitude in all of us. After so many years of teaching, she still has the same outlook on life. "Live a little, Laugh a little, Love a lot!" She always stresses the value of respect and for that we thank you. Thank you, Mrs. Herbst, for your kind heart, dedication and your heart-felt stories about life. As we go into the next chapter of our lives, we will never forget the love Mrs. Herbst has for her students. Thank you, Mrs. Herbst!! We love you!!
