This standard was first published as IS 9299 (Part 3/Sec 2) : 1982 ‘Insulating materials based on built-up mica or treated mica paper: Part 3 Specifications for individual materials, Section 2 Moulding mica materials for electrical purposes’. The committee has now decided to adopt the IEC Standard to harmonize it with the latest developments taken place at international level. This standard is now being published in single number based on IEC 60371 in various parts/sections. Other parts in this series are: Part 1 Definitions and general requirements Part 2 Methods of test Part 3 Specifications for individual materials, Section 1 Commutator separators and materials Section 2 Mica paper Section 3 Specification for rigid mica materials for heating equipment Section 4 Polyester film-backed mica paper with a B-stage epoxy resin binder Section 5 Glass-backed mica paper with an epoxy resin binder for post-impregnation (VPI) Section 6 Glass-backed mica paper with a B-stage epoxy resin binder Section 7 Polyester film mica paper with an epoxy resin binder for single conductor taping Section 8 Mica paper tapes for flame-resistant security cables This standard supersedes IS 9299 (Part 3/Sec 2) : 1982 and after the publication of this standard IS 9299 (Part 3/Sec 2) shall be treated as withdrawn. The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’. b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker. i IS/IEC 60371-3-9 : 1995 In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their respective places are listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated: International Standard Corresponding Indian Standard Degree of Equivalence IEC 60216-1 : 1990 Guide for the IS 8504 (Part 1) : 1994 Guide for Technically Equivalent determination of thermal endurance determination of thermal endurance properties of electrical insulating properties of electrical insulating materials — Part 1: General guidelines materials: Part 1 General guidelines for for ageing procedures and evaluation ageing procedures and evaluation of of test results test results (first revision) IEC 60243-1 : 19881) Method of test IS 2584 : 1963 Method of test for do for electric strength of solid insulating electric strength of solid insulating materials — Part 1: Tests at power materials at power frequencies frequencies IEC 60371-2 : 19872) Specification for IS/IEC 60371-2 : 2004 Specification for do insulating materials based on mica — insulating materials based on mica: Part 2: Methods of test Part 2 Methods of test IEC 60371-3-2 : 19913) Specification IS/IEC 60371-3-2 : 2005 Specification do for insulating materials based on mica for insulating materials based on mica: — Part 3: Specifications for individual Part 3 Specifications for individual materials — Sheet 2: Mica paper materials, Section 2 Mica paper IEC 60554-3-2 : 1983 Specification IS 9335 (Part 3/Sec 2) : 1985 Cellulosic Identical for cellulosic papers for electrical papers for electrical purposes: purposes — Part 3: Specifications for Part 3 Specifications for individual individual materials — Sheet 2: materials, Section 2 Capacitor paper Capacitor paper IEC 60674-3-2 : 1992 Specification IS 11298 (Part 3/Sec 3) : 1998 Plastic do for plastic films for electrical purposes films for electrical purposes: Part 3 — Part 3: Specification for individual Spcifications for individual materials, materials — Sheet 2: Requirements Section 3 Requirements for balanced for balanced biaxially oriented biaxially oriented polyethylene polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films terephthalate (PET) films used for used for electrical insulation electrical insulation The technical committee has reviewed the provision of the following International Standard referred in this adopted standard and has decided that it is acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard: International Standard Title ISO 6386 : 1981 Muscovite mica splittings — Grading and visual classification Amendment No. 1 issued in the year 2007 to the above International Standard has been given at the end of this standard. 1)Since revised in 1998. 2)Since revised in 2004. 3)Since revised in 2005. ii IS/IEC 60371-3-9 : 1995 Only the English language text of the International Standard has been retained while adopting it in this Indian Standard, and as such the page numbers given here are not the same as in the IEC Standard. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard. iii IS/IEC 60371-3-9 : 1995 Indian Standard SPECIFICATION FOR INSULATING MATERIALS BASED ON MICA PART 3 SPECIFICATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL MATERIALS Section 9 Moulding Micanite 1
