Preface
We are delighted to introduce the proceedings of the second edition of the European
Alliance for Innovation (EAI) International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for
Communications and Networks (AICON 2021), which was held in Xining, China,
October 23–24, 2021. This conference aims to stimulate debate and provide a forum
for researchers working on related problems to exchange ideas and recent results
(bothpositiveandnegativeones)inapplyingartificialintelligencetocommunications
and networks. The artificial intelligence based approach may offer some new design
approachesfortraditionallydifficultinformationandsignalprocessingtasksinwireless
communication,networking,andcomputing.
The technical program of AICON 2021consisted of 81 full papers, including the
five best papers, in oral presentation sessions at the main conference tracks: Track 1:
DeepLearning/MachineLearningonInformationandSignalProcessing;Track2:Arti-
ficialIntelligenceinWirelessCommunicationsandSatelliteCommunications;Track3:
ArtificialIntelligenceinElectromagneticSignalProcessing;Track4:ArtificialIntelli-
genceApplicationinWirelessCachingandComputing;Track5:ArtificialIntelligence
ApplicationinComputerNetwork;andTrack6:AdvancesinAIandTheirApplications
inInformation,Circuit,MicrowaveandControl.Asidefromthehigh-qualitytechnical
paperpresentations,thetechnicalprogramalsofeaturedthreekeynotespeechesgivenby
NanZhaofromtheDalianUniversityofTechnology,China,YunfeiChenfromtheUni-
versityofWarwick,UK,andJieTangfromtheSouthChinaUniversityofTechnology,
China.
Coordinationwiththesteeringchairs,ImrichChlamtac,XuemaiGu,andChengLi,
wasessentialforthesuccessoftheconference.Wesincerelyappreciatetheirconstant
