QUICK START GUIDE

Welcome to the NIV QuickView Bible! As you’ve
probably already noticed, QuickView is unlike any other
Bible you’ve ever seen. In addition to the New
International Version (NIV) Scripture text, there are
more than 350 full-color infographics to help you
explore God’s Word. This is because the Bible is
serious reading. Did you know the Bible contains
727,000 words? Check out some additional facts on
page viii.

Approximately 83 percent of human understanding
occurs visually. This means that humans learn best
through both words and pictures. The infographics in

this Bible summarize and illustrate portions of Scripture
using lists, charts, graphs and other visual
representations. They are also a great way to get to
know those books of the Bible you’ve never ventured to
read before. Since each infographic is tied to a passage
of Scripture, both work together to help you best
understand God’s Word.

Scattered throughout the Bible, you will also find 20
full-color in-text maps to explain important information
and ideas from Scripture.

Because the Bible is so large, QuickView contains two
wayfinding features to help you understand the context
of where you are as you explore the Old and New
Testaments. The first is an infographic called “Where
Are We?”

The second wayfinding feature is the use of color
coding for each of the ten different divisions of the
