The origins of the Faculty of Economics
and Business Sciences
The first Faculty of Economic
Sciences in Andalucía opened in
Málaga in 1965 and it was the
fourth in Spain (after Madrid,
Barcelona and Bilbao).

The Challenge of European Higher
Education
 The Faculty actively participates in mobility programs
and receives a high demand of applications from
European students.

Continuous adaptation to the training needs
of the environment
 The Faculty of Economics and Business is
characterized by its ability to offer free seminars
that complement the formal educational setting of
their students.
 The Faculty organizes the annual cycle of
conferences: Economy and Society, made up of
four seminars for the purpose of recognized
international economists.
 It is committed to the training of entrepreneurs with
activities such as the Seminar Emprende 21 that
involves 500 students.

All Degrees have these characteristics:
 4 academic courses are organized:
 Basic training courses. (60 ECTS)
 Compulsory courses.
 Elective courses.
 Nº ECT credits per subject: 6
 Nº total ECTS credits: 240
 Teaching is divided into semesters: 5 subjects each
 4th Course: optional, work experience in companies and final
course work
However, from a basic knowledge in the previous subjects, each
qualification follows a different route.

Degree in Economics
 What training is provided?
Economics studies the management of scarce resources. Through
constructing of models and the use of formal technique, there is an approach
to the knowledge of economic reality.
 Objectives of studies:
To try to provide the best solutions to the allocation of resources.
Within the curriculum there are subjects of a different nature; therefore it is
important to study both mathematics or statistics, as well as history or law.
