N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey Introduction Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezoz recently announced that they are now selling more digital books (Ebooks) than hard copy books from their Kindle book store. How would you like to get your self published book sold via Amazon's Kindle store? There's nothing to it. And I'll show you how to do it quick. Ebooks are definitely the wave of the future. If you have written an Ebook yourself, or if you are planning to write and sell one, you should be getting into this exploding market. The Kindle platform has emerged as the leader in the Ebook field, and there couldn't be a better way to break into this market than through Amazon. Amazon brought out their famous Kindle Ebook Reader {http://tinyurl.com/3vfwnmw} a few years ago, and they have sold millions of them. The Kindle has come a long way since the first model was introduced. In fact, there are now three Kindle readers to choose from. You can publish just about anything on the Kindle. Actually, Amazon doesn't publish Kindle content at all; they distribute it... in Kindle format. Amazon is striving to offer customers the biggest collection of digital books online, and they are doing a great job!Besides Ebooks, you'll find newspapers, magazines, and even blogs readily available for Kindle download. Kindle content is delivered wireless to many devices, like the Kindle, iPods, iPhones, or Android devices, so there's no computer needed. 3. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey If you have access to the Internet, you can download Kindle content. Using the Kindle store to distribute your books is a self publishing author's dream come true. Not only is it incredibly easy, it's also free to do! You just upload your manuscript to the Kindle DTP, (Digital Text Platform) fill in the needed information, (the title, description, author, selling price, etc.) and in a few days your Ebook will be online and for sale in the World's largest bookstore. You'll also get a free page for your author's profile, where you an list all your books at once. Another great advantage is that you don't give up any publishing or author's rights. You retain everything. You can even sell your book on other online Ebook stores at the same time and sell through their channels as well. Amazon only takes a percentage from your Ebook when it gets sold through the Kindle bookstore. You always keep full control over your content. There's no better way to enter the Ebook arena than via Amazon's Kindle Ebook store. Enjoy the read! CreateSpace A member of the Amazon group of companies, provides a fast, easy and economical way to self-publish and make your content available to millions of potential customers on Amazon.com and other channels. With the CreateSpace manufacturing-on-demand model, your products will be produced as customers order, so you don't have to make an up-front investment in inventory. Media formats supported through CreateSpace include books, DVDs, CDs, video downloads and Amazon MP3s. Learn About Create Space http://tinyurl.com/nhs8dc 4. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey Creating Your Ebook Cover It's a fact that a professional looking cover gives your book a professional image. The problem is that many Kindle book covers scream “amateur”… Perception is reality... whether it’s true or not. As a self published author, you'll have to do your own layout and cover design. If you have a copy of Adobe PhotoShop, and know how to design a cover from scratch, you can do it on your own. There's no need to create a 3D Ebook style cover. A flat 2D image, sized at 500*600 pixels will do fine. Add in your title, use a nice graphic or background image, and save the cover as a .jpg file to your PC, for uploading it to the Kindle store later. You can also hire someone at Fiverr.com for your cover design if you don't have any graphical skills. Here's A great Ebook Cover Designer: http://tinyurl.com/3okw933 Open Your Ebook With A Compelling Title. Your title should look like this: Your Book Title Here By Your Name That's all. Nothing more. Your book title is very important, so make it stand out! Experts say that you only have about 4 seconds to make an impact with your title. That's how long your potential book reader spends reading your title. Therefore, you must develop a stellar title to compel people to read your book. Here are a few tips: 1 The Big Gun Don't be shy in creating a direct statement headline. For example, Internet marketer Jimmy Brown uses his big promise with title, "Six Figure Formula: How to Earn $100K Per Year In Only 3 Hours a Day!" 5. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey 2. The Benefit Put the biggest reader benefit offered in your book in your title. Every one wants to know what's in it for them. Tell your potential readers what's in it for them and reel them in like fish on a hook. For instance, "40 Proven Ways To Make Money With Your Own Ebook." 3. The Reason Why The 'reason why' title speaks to the 'what's in it for me' question all potential readers ask. Give your readers the numbered reasons why. You could use a title like, "101 Reasons To Write A Book And Sell It Online." 4. The Numbered Title. People want to feel better, make more money, or simply improve their lives. Titles like, "7 Habits Of Highly Successful People" will make them curious for more. Next, you can start writing your copy. - I'm not going into more detail on how to write an Ebook, but if you need help, you can always email me at [email protected] Be sure to have your Ebook properly formatted. I recommend you to use the Times New Roman, Verdana or Arial font type. These are the fonts that readers appreciate most when reading on the Kindle. Use a 12-14 size. Remove all headings or page numbers. These are not needed, and can cause problems when you format your Ebook file to the Kindle format. The "Page Break" feature in Word should be used to create intentional page breaks (i.e. ending a chapter for a smoother transition and better reading experience). If you plan to insert images in your book, use the 'Insert' function. Do not use the copy/paste function. It won't work. 6. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey Adding A Table Of Contents Once you have found a great title, it's time to insert a Table Of Contents in your book. You need a clickable index to allow your readers to easily navigate through your book. It's easy to get lost when reading an Ebook in the Kindle, so be sure to add a table of contents. Your readers will thank you for doing it. When you add a table of contents to your document (TOC), Word automatically searches through it looking for items that are marked for use in the TOC. Certain elements, i.e. headings, are marked this way by default but you can also mark other elements manually. The facility to add a table of contents is not on the insert tab as you might expect. Position the cursor where you want to insert the TOC and click References > Table of Contents > Table of Contents and a gallery of built in TOC styles is displayed. You can save time by choosing one of the built in TOC styles or you can click Insert Table of Contents... at the bottom of the menu to define your own TOC style. You can specify a variety of attributes for your TOC, including the format and how many heading levels to show. You may only be interested in adding an 'at a glance' table of contents; in this case you might elect to show only level 1 headings. Whenever you change a property, the print preview shows you how it will look before you actually insert the TOC. 7. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey If you still have problems doing it, here's a YouTube video on how to do it right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkyisWIE3kQ Uploading Your Ebook To The Kindle Store Now that you have your Ebook ready and properly formatted, it's time to upload your Ebook file to Amazon's Kindle store. Login to Amazon (or create an account first if you don't have one), and visit: https://kdp.amazon.com/self- publishing/signin This is Amazon's Kindle Digital Bookstore (KDP), where you can add your Ebook(s), and place it in Amazon's Kindle store so people can find it. KDP lets you upload and convert your final draft from several formats. For best results, I recommend that you upload your book file in DOC (.doc) or PRC (.prc) format. The following formats are accepted: MS Word (.doc, or DOC) ePub (.epub, or EPUB) Plain Text (.txt, or TXT) MobiPocket (.mobi, or MOBI and .prc, or PRC) Zipped HTML (.zip, or ZIP) Adobe PDF (.pdf, or PDF) Word (.doc, or DOC) KDP accepts most DOC files for Ebook conversion. However, some DOC files which contain complex formatting may not export well. Be sure to use the inline previewer to check your files conversion if it contains tables or is graphic intensive to ensure conversion was successful. Kindle books can be viewed in different font sizes, depending on the reader's preference. For this reason, page numbers, font sizes and margins set in Word do not apply. 8. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey − If you're submitting your file in DOC format, the entire book text should be uploaded in one DOC file, including your cover file. A .docx file is a file from Microsoft Word 2007 that is not compatible with previous versions of Word. At this time, documents in .docx format are not supported on KDP. If your content has been created in .docx format, please resave your document. − How To Get Reviews For Your Ebook? If you have your Ebook listed for sale on Amazon, then it's important that your book has some good reviews. People like to read testimonials before they buy something. The better the reviews, the more sales you will make. Not having reviews for your book make it look like it isn’t selling...even if it is. It puts potential buyers at ease when they decide whether or not to buy your book. You could ask your family members, or friends to write a review, or offer your book for free to someone who is experienced in your book's subject, a webmaster or blogger, and ask for a review in return. If you have an opt-in list, you can give away a copy to subscribers who want to review it. This is a great way to get some positive reviews quick. There are also online forums where Kindle authors connect. You can ask other authors to review your book and in return review theirs. You can also hire someone at Fiverr.com to write a positive review for your book. Here's an example: http://tinyurl.com/3okw933 Just don't overdo it here. Ask people to write a "real" review, not a "hyped up" comment that over promises. Amazon will find out about it sooner or later, and your book may be removed. You don't want that to happen. 9. N Vegas Group Inc. Publisher Larry Bussey Advanced Kindle Book Selling Tip Instead of selling a huge Ebook with 500 pages for $29.97, why not may make more money selling that same information broken up into five 100-page Ebooks priced at $3.99? A $3.99 priced Ebook will likely make you more sales than the one priced at $29.97. People who are not familiar with your work are more likely to check out your lower priced books, and once you have gained their trust, they are much more likely to purchase other products from you. If you have written a series of books, you could price your first book of the series at $0.99. This will allow more readers to take a look at your material... and once they are “hooked”, they will buy your other books. Just remember that there are thousands of Kindle Ebooks on Amazon. People will not find your book automatically. You will need to do some promotion. You can see how I do it by using the viral power of Facebook. Article marketing is another effective way to market your Ebook. When people are searching for articles online, they are hungry for information, and if you can provide them with interesting content, they may find out more about you, and your book. You can also find out “How To Make Money Online” eBook Creation For Entrepreneurs with my Book on Amazon. h ttp://tinyurl.com/2cwkrax You can also post on someone else's blog as a guest blogger, and add a link to your Kindle book at the end of your post. Another proven marketing technique is pay-per-click advertising, banner advertising, email marketing and social media marketing. This is how Ebook marketers have made tens of thousands of dollars, and in some cases, even hundreds of thousands of dollars, overnight.
