Councillor vows
to fight potholes

lor has pledged to tackle
Southend’s pothole problem,
which has been worsened by
the recent spell of the bad
weather.
Executive councillor for
transport and planning, Anna
Waite, said that more than
£700,000 has been recently
spentonanewregimeofpot-
holerepair.
She claimed: “There has
been a noticeable improve-
mentinhighwaysurfacingbut
now we are looking at major
potholerepairs.
“In view of this, I have
requestedthattheGovernment
beapproachedforextrafunds
along with the council’s
financedepartment.”
