Claire M. Brody, Ph.D. is Adjunct Associate Professor in the
Departn1ents of Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology of the
College of Staten Island, City University of New York. In addition
to teaching and counseling at the City University over the past 20
years, she has also taught at J<airleigh Dickinson University and is
on the Adjunct Graduate J:a< culty of Long Island University. She
has been a school psychologist and a therapist with n1ental health
clinics in New York and New Jersey and is in p1ivate practice in
Englewood, New Jersey. She is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Professional Psychology and has written articles and
papers in the fields of college counseling and teaching as well as
psychotherapy with women. She received a Masters Degree from
the Committee on Human Development of the University of
Chicago and her doctoral degree in psychology from New York
University. She edited a prior book in the Springer Focus on
Women series, \Vomen Therapists Working with Women.
