Page ix Preface This bibliography of chamber music for wind quintet and winds with piano has been compiled from a variety of sources: music publishers and dealers, catalogues, reference books, composers and musicians. For the most part, I have included only those works that are currently in print or readily available from another source, with the exception of a few works that I have personal knowledge of and felt their quality warranted inclusion. In those cases I have tried to indicate possible sources for the music. The descriptive information given with many of the entries was derived from a variety of sources, including record jackets, composer biographies, reference books, fellow musicians and my own experiences with the music. I have arranged the composition listings on three lines. The first line relates to the composer: name, country and birthdate. The second concerns the composition: name, arranger (if any) and date written (if known). The third line details performance and publisher information: publisher, performance length (if known), recording (if any), and instrument list, abbreviated as follows: piano p flute f oboe o English EH horn clarinet c basoon b h horn Whenever possible, additional notes describing the music or the composer's general style are included following the performance/publisher line. A key to the abbreviations for publishers and recordings can be found beginning on page 161. If there are inadvertent omissions or errors, I welcome feedback from readers and subsequent editions can be revised. (Mailing address: 835 Frank Kirk Rd., Kennesaw, GA 30144, USA.) A companion book of music for three to thirteen winds is in preparation.
